Dear Sun Spots: Love your column!!
I have two items I would be willing to give away, if anyone is interested. The first is a Wurlitzer organ with percussion. It works and would be great for a nursing home or youth center. Second, I have a rather old Wellington upright piano from the Cable Co. in Chicago. It must be close to 100 years old and is in need of tuning and possibly some other repairs but the keys and exterior are in relatively good shape. If anyone is interested in either one, please feel free to call Jill at 527-2505 after 9 a.m. and no later than 7 p.m. Whoever is interested would need to pick these items up. Thanks for your help. – Jill Bean, Norway.
Dear Sun Spots: I recently submitted an article for publication in the column. Unfortunately, some of the names were incorrectly published. Could you please reprint the following. Thanks.
My cousins and I are searching for information on a Grammy Flagg who was either a relative or family friend of our ancestors, the Vinings or Prestons in Weld, Carthage or Temple in the late 1800s or early 1900s.
It’s believed that she helped families with the birth and care of young children and possibly helped the elderly. Her name could have been changed when she came to one of these areas. She could have been Julia Shaw or Nellie Jane. Or maybe her name was something else altogether.
Any and all information would be greatly appreciated to 347 New Vineyard Road, Famington, or via phone at 778-2673. – Lois Hall, Farmington.
Answer: Sun Spots would remind readers who are handwriting items to the column to ensure your writing is legible. Sun Spots receives many inquiries both through e-mail and the post and handwriting is often difficult to decipher. Thanks for your help.
Dear Sun Spots: I was wondering if anyone had the recipe for Hannaford’s white light n’ fluffy icing. I cannot seem to find it anywhere and it is the only frosting my husband will eat! – No Name, New Gloucester.
Dear Sun Spots: I have a couch in very good condition which was previously owned by a smoker. What would be the best way to get the odor out of it or could it be professionally cleaned? If so, how much would it cost? – Leon Brown, No Town.
Answer: Sun Spots would recommend you have it professionally cleaned. Not knowing the size, material and other specifications, Sun Spots would urge you to call around for some pricing estimates.
