AUBURN – Elizabeth L. Knight of Auburn passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, at Clover Health Care Center.
She was born in Auburn, on Dec. 20, 1918, daughter of Charles Larrabee and Laura Whitman Larrabee.
Betty was raised by her Uncle Millard and Aunt Liz on Granite Street in Auburn, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1937.
She and her first husband Spencer T. Biddle settled in Maryland, where they raised their family.
She was a conscientious worker in many jobs throughout her life, from the telephone company to Greyhound Bus and hotel management.
Upon retiring, she returned to Maine. She lived at Barker Arms, where she served as president of the association and founded the in-house craft shop.
Crafting and fine hard work were her joys. She shared this joy with the RSVP volunteer organization at Central Maine Medical Center, and The Golden Nuggets at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Pettis (Robert) of Iowa; three sons, Michael Biddle (Jane) of South Carolina, David Biddle (Jeanette) of Tacoma, Wash., and Rod Biddle (Suzanne) of Auburn; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; her brother, Robert Larrabee (Evelyn) of Auburn; one sister-in-law, Ellen Larrabee of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband; second husband, Robert L. Knight; one brother, Richard Larrabee; and one sister, Janet Smyc.
