FARMINGTON – Ovila “Chick” Chicoine, 66, a resident of Jay, died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 6, at Franklin Memorial Hospital shortly after arrival. He resided with his son, Jim and daughter-in-law Melinda for the past six years who took loving care of him throughout his illness.

He worked as a loader operator for Cianbro Corp. and Dragon Cement Co. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, wrestling, and his riding lawnmower. He especially looked forward to the summer cookouts with family and friends. He was an animal lover who always enjoyed the company of his cats Queenie and Coco.

He is survived by his son, James Buck and his wife, Melinda, of Jay; a granddaughter, Jennifer Thone and her husband, Derek, of Hartford; a grandson, Corey Richard and his companion, Ashley Pelletier, of Palm Springs, Fla.; a brother, Norman “Stubby” Chicoine and his wife, Gloria, of Livermore; four sisters, Dorothy Perry of Jay, Patricia Libby of Turner, Gloria Dunham of Dixfield and Lois Walton and her husband, Bob, of North Turner; sisters-in-law, Shirley Chicoine of Rhode Island, and Rita Chicoine of Livermore Falls; a brother-in-law, Winston Coombs of Livermore; many nieces and nephews; special close friends, Dawn Robinson and her son, Brandon, of Auburn and Louise Campbell and her husband, Dave, of Canton.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Madeline Coombs and Betty Chicoine; and five brothers, Lawrence Chicoine, Walter Chicoine, Paul Chicoine, Manny Chicoine and Arnold Chicoine.

A special thank-you to Nola Michaud who would keep him company every day for the last two months and he very much looked forward to her visits.

A sincere thank-you to the Androscoggin Home Health caregivers, especially Bertha Flagg and to Dr. Boulanger and Dr. Ulin for the extraordinary medical care that Chick received during his illness.
