Dear Sun Spots: I was wondering if any of your kind readers would be willing to bring comfort and good thoughts to a former Mainer currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
Andrea (Miller), Godbolt, 34, formerly of Lewiston, Auburn, and Turner and now of Charlotte, N.C., was diagnosed on Sept. 11 with two forms of carcinoma in her left breast. She has since undergone a radical double mastectomy and just last week received her second TAC chemotherapy treatment. Andrea is a strong spirit, she has always been so giving of herself to others, a true Mainer. But, now she needs comfort and support. Her family is requesting anyone who would like to show support for Andrea and her immediate family (her husband and four young children) to send a simple card to them.
Please send cards to: The Godbolt Family, 10804 Gardenia St., Charlotte, NC 28215.
Thank you friends! – Heather Turner, Buckfield.
Answer: Please wish Andrea the best from Sun Spots and column readers. We are sending healing vibes her way.
Dear Sun Spots: I read your column every day, and you help so many people. I have two questions that you might be able to solve for me.
I came across an Ames Cash Card that was given to me as gift some time ago. Do you know of any stores that might acknowledge it? Or where I may send it to get the benefit of it?
Also, has Dr. Phil McGraw had a previous marriage? My sister tells me he has but I don’t think so. Thank you. – J.C., No Town.
Answer: Regarding your question on Ames, you might consider contacting The Ames Fan Club who might be able to locate an answer for you. You can reach them via their Web site at www.amesfanclub.com or The Ames Fan Club, P.O. Box 1405, Dudley, MA 01571. The site’s Web master can be reached via e-mail at [email protected] or [email protected].
According to Amazon.com, “Making Of Dr. Phil: The Straight Talking True Story of Everyone’s Favorite Therapist,” covers McGraw’s life. From his early days as a young athlete and student pilot, to his failed first marriage and decision to study psychology, the Making of Dr. Phil captures the rise of one of today’s most well-known celebrities. It explores Dr. Phil’s true motivations and inner drives and also reveals the full dimension of his personality, beyond the “down-home doc” image portrayed in his books and on television.
McGraw is also a gifted businessman whose empire includes a blockbuster television show, best-selling books, and sold-out live seminars. The rise of Dr. Phil – and his ever-expanding media and self-help operation – is one of the most fascinating success stories in recent years.
According to Dr. Phil’s Web site, McGraw has been married to wife Robin for 31 years. An avid tennis player, golfer and scuba diver, he lives in Los Angeles with Robin. The couple has two sons: Jordan, their younger son, and Jay who married in August 2006. You can write to the Dr. Phil Show, 5482 Wilshire Boulevard 1902, Los Angeles, CA 90036.
Dear Sun Spots: I had two people respond but sadly never heard from them again. Please rerun my inquiry as follows:
I am in the need of a Lewiston High Yearbook picture for Brenda Divver, 1975 yearbook. If also possible, yearbook pictures for James and Michael Divver. These can be scanned and Gif/Jpeg and sent to [email protected] or to P.O. Box 61, Sterling, Va., 20164. Many thanks! – Brenda Divver, Sterling, Va.
