GREENE – Nomination papers for local office will be available Dec. 13 for the March 7, 2008, municipal election. Anyone wishing to take out nomination papers must get at least 25 but not more than 100 signatures from registered voters in Greene.

Two selectmen seats and one school board seat will be open, all for three-year terms.

Film on Bantus showing Thursday

LEWISTON – An award-winning documentary film that chronicles the lives of Somali Bantus as they are relocated from Africa to America will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library. Admission is free.

The showing of “Rain in a Dry Land” is co-sponsored by the Somali Bantu Community Mutual Assistance Association. The film will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Sheikh Mohamed and other members of the local Somali Bantu community. For more information, phone 513-3135.

Dog licenses due in Sabattus

SABATTUS – Dog licenses are due by Dec. 31 and will cost $6 each for neutered dogs and $11 for non-neutered dogs. Please bring in proof of rabies’ vaccination. After Jan. 31, a late fee of $15 will be added to the annual license fee, according to Town Clerk Suzanne M. Adams. The state allows a 30-day grace period, she said.
