CHESTERVILLE – Jason Powers, 37, was arrested Tuesday on charges of trafficking in marijuana and possession of Hydrocodone.

Drug paraphernalia and other items related to marijuana cultivation were discovered outside Powers’ residence by Maine State Police Trooper Aaron Turcotte and a state drug enforcement agent when they went there to speak with him, Turcotte said.

After obtaining a search warrant, officers seized 73 marijuana plants growing in three rooms. Hydrocodone tablets were located and seized. Marijuana pipes, digital scales, growing equipment and packaged marijuana were also seized by state police, Franklin County deputies and a drug enforcement agent, he said.

Powers, who arrived home prior to the search, was later arrested and taken to Franklin County jail in Farmington, Turcotte said Wednesday.

Assisting with the search were Sgt. Steven Lowell, Detective David St. Laurent, Deputy David Rackliffe and K-9 Oden.
