MONMOUTH – Elizabeth “Betty” (Pratt) Norton Johnson, 92, a longtime resident of Norris Hill Road, Monmouth, died Monday, Dec. 10, at her home.

She was born Oct 17, 1915, in North Anson, the daughter of the late Henry Merry and Lucy Pratt Norton. Betty attended Anson Academy and graduated in 1933.

On Oct. 19, 1940, in North Anson, she married Ernest Henry Johnson, and he passed away June 26, 2000. She was employed by the state of Maine in the then-Department of Health and Welfare, as an accountant.

She was a lifelong member of the North Anson Congregational Church, a member and past trustee of Monmouth Cumston Library, a trustee of Monmouth Museum and of the Monmouth Historical Society.

She is survived by her children, Ernest Henry Johnson III and his wife, Jane, of Raymond, David Goff Johnson and his wife, Valerie, of Pleasanton, Calif., William Stuart Johnson and his wife, Marianne, of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Elizabeth Davee (Mrs. Masanobu Suenaga) of Kumamoto City, Japan; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Benjamin Warren and Frank Merry Norton.
