LEWISTON – Roger L. Beaulieu, 85, of 4 Pond View Court in Turner, died late Thursday, Dec. 6, at d’Youville Pavilion, after a six-day stay assisted with “Comfort Care” and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
He was born in Lewiston on March 3, 1922, the son of the late Ludger and Laura (Ouellette) Beaulieu. He was educated at St. Mary’s School and was a member of Les Cadet. He was a veteran of the military, having served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 103rd Infantry, Company E and was also wounded in combat during World War II.
Upon his return, he worked for Bob St. Hilaire’s Waterproofing for nearly 40 years. On Jan. 29, 1944, he married Rita Beaulieu. Through the years he enjoyed fishing, hunting and archery, but golf was his greatest love. He was a member of the Pastime Club and enjoyed daily morning coffee with the “boys.”
He leaves his loving wife of 63 years, Rita Beaulieu of Turner; a son, Roger Beaulieu Jr. and wife, Jane, of Manor, Pa.; his daughter, Nancy Bedard and husband, Lucien, of Turner; five grandchildren, Shandra Bishop and husband, John, of Auburn, Trisha Cote and husband, Ricci, of Turner, Kyle Bedard and wife, Christine, of Lewiston, Jim Beaulieu of Germantown, Md., and Kevin Beaulieu and wife, Karie, of Peterborough, N.H.; eight great-grandchildren, Jordan and Hunter Bishop, Madison and Brianna Cote, Cody and Cameron Bedard and Wyatt and Owen Beaulieu; a brother, Roland Beaulieu and wife, Blondie, of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Yvette Gousse of Wales; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by by his parents; a sister, Carmen Morin and husband, Roger, of Sandwich, Mass.; and his best friend, Lionel Potvin.
The family would like to thank the staff at Montello Commons for two years of excellent care, St. Mary’s Hospital C-2 staff and d’Youville Pavilion for the care and comfort he received.
