VFW lunch

LEWISTON – The Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will meet at noon Sunday, Dec. 16, at the Lewiston Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon St. All officers and members are encouraged to attend. The agenda will include upcoming programs.

A special Christmas lunch will be served after the meeting. Wives and guests are welcome.

Santa to visit

AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at the Grand Lodge office meeting room, 80 Caron Lane. Due to the snowstorm on Dec. 3 there was no meeting, so the members will gather to make up the goodie trays for shut-in members and hold a cookie swap among themselves.

It is Christmas Dress-Up Night and Santa will visit. In lieu of a gift exchange, members are asked to bring shoes for kids, a lodge community outreach program.

A regular meeting will follow at 7 p.m. The raffle tickets are ready to sell for the queen-size quilt and pillow cover made by some of the members. The drawing will be March 3. The proceeds will benefit the work of the order. Anyone interested in learning more about the order should contact Esther Tucker at 998-5359.

Seniors luncheon

AUBURN – First Auburn Seniors will have a Christmas luncheon on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Martindale Country Club. Door will open at 11 a.m. There will be special pot of gold drawings, and a musical program will be presented by Ron Niggle.

The Dec. 5 meeting was attended by 59 members. Winners were Lucille Rybeck, Joan Dechene, Don Fyfe, Bob Adkins and Letha Haggerty. Special drawings were won by Caroline Chapman and Irene Fraser.

Members welcomed new members, June McGinley and Roger Bertrand. If there is no school, there is no meeting.

Look, feel good

LEWISTON – “Look Good … Feel Better,” the American Cancer Society’s program for assisting women who are faced with appearance changes resulting from cancer treatment, will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Central Maine Medical Center’s Sam and Jennie Bennett Breast Care Center, 12 High St., Suite 103.

OES to meet

LISBON FALLS – Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at the Ancient York Masonic Hall, Route 196. The program will be Obligation and Landmarks. Members will bring pennies to donate to a local nursing home. The evening will begin with a 6 p.m. potluck supper. All members of the order are invited.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose on Dec. 11 were: first, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; second, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau; third, Les Buzzell and Nancy Lindgren; fourth/first in B, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements; second in B, Donna Bartlett and Sue Kaluzynski.

Winners at Schooner Estates in Auburn on Dec. 12 were: first in A and B, Tom Dahlberg and David Wallace; second, Les Buzzell and John Hackett; third, Paul Barber and Luke Merry; fourth, Sharon Hinckley and Fred Letourneau; fifth/second in B, Patricia and Mike Quinn; third in B, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; first in C, Betty and Doug Sise; second in C, Marta Clements and Dick Allen.
