POLAND – Local band Sparks the Rescue will give a concert benefiting the band program at Poland Regional High School at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22. Admission is $7.

Four of the six band members are PRHS graduates and had Larry Williams, band director, as a teacher. This is their way of giving back to the music program at the school.

“These guys are living proof of a mantra I live by, ‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way.’ Their popularity and polished act just didn’t happen overnight. They are the hardest working kids that are finding their path to success, and to think that they were once in our music program in Poland. I was honored to have been their teacher,” said Williams.

The band signed a record deal with Double Blind Music in December of 2006 and released its debut EP “The Secrets We Can’t Keep” last February in the iTunes music store. They are currently working on their first full-length CD, due out in 2008 on Double Blind Music.

Sparks the Rescue will also perform Dec, 28 at The Ultra Lounge in Orono and Dec. 29 at The Station in Portland.
