BETHEL – The Black Diamond Family Entertainment Series at Sunday River Ski Resort kicks off its season with PoiStar Fire Dance Productions on Dec. 27 and Mad Science on Dec. 29.

Michelle Jeffalone and the PoiStar Fire Dance Production members will perform their dazzling feats slope side at the White Cap Base Lodge at 7 p.m. and again at 7:45 p.m. on Dec. 27. The group takes their name PoiStar from the word POI: the art of spinning fire. Their performance features a variety of spinning and twirling of objects including Fire Poi, Petite Batons, Fire Parasols, Glowing Hula Hoops, and Glowing Finger Fans, all of which have one or more parts on fire. Both performances are outside, free to the public, and take place just prior to the 8:20 p.m. fireworks display.

Join us inside the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Summit Resort Hotel on Dec. 29, for Mad Science, a fun-filled interactive stage show that’s sure to spark your imagination.

Mad Science is the world’s leading science enrichment provider, stimulating the curiosity of children by providing them with fun, interactive and educational programs that instill a clear understanding of what science is really about and how it affects their world. Mad Science exploits children’s natural curiosity and desire to touch, see and do, providing them with the opportunity to engage in hands-on exploration and witness truly amazing scientific phenomena.

This “edu-taining” Mad Science program begins at 7 p.m.

Advance tickets for the Mad Science Show are $4 for children ages 6 to 12 and $6 for adults. Tickets are $6 and $8 at the door. Tickets may be purchased on-mountain at the South Ridge Welcome Center, the Snow Cap Inn and the Grand Summit Hotel front desk or at Books & Things in Bethel.
