SOUTH PARIS – On Dec. 11, at home with family, a much loved 91-year-old matriarch peacefully passed away. In addition to her family she was mother and grandmother to many local people.

E. Lucille Tourtellotte Box, born Jan. 23, 1916, in Worcester, Mass., was the daughter of Fred and Catherine (McKeen) Tourtellotte and was the eldest of six sisters. She graduated from Bartlett High School, Webster, Mass. in 1933, and studied to become a cosmetologist.

Later she was personnel director for Greetings Service Corporation, Webster, Mass. for 14 years. During this time she attended Nichols College and later studied at Clark University. She was then employed at Day Kimble Hospital in Putman, Conn., as associate director of community relations and development, from which she retired.

A life-long Methodist, she was a member of Deering Memorial United Methodist Church, South Paris, where she was active in the United Methodist Woman’s Association. She and her late husband, Richard, were active in the community videotaping local people and events. “Ric-Lu” productions often aired on Channel 2, Oxford Hills Community Television.

In Embden, while her children attended school, she served on the school committee. Also, she was a member of Paris Cape Historical Society, Maine Peoples Alliance, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and was a volunteer for the Oxford Hills Food Pantry. Her interests included gardening, home decorating and antiques, having operated UnderClyffe House antique shop. Most of all, she loved her pets, her family and friends, her chosen family.

She is survived by six children, Marjorie W. Easterbrook of Dudley, Mass., William M. Watson Jr. of Kerrville, Texas, and Phyllis W. Maywhort and husband, Francis, of Sunset Beach, Calif., Warren F. Watson and wife, Evelyn, of Marydel, Md., Mary Lu Clark and husband, Robert, of Roanoke, Va., and Nancy E. Watson and husband, Stephen Cairns, of Norway; grandchildren, Janice Quigley and her husband, Peter, Shirley St. Germaine, William Watson III and wife, Connie, all of Florida, in Massachusetts, Richard Easterbrook and wife, Debbie, David Easterbrook and wife, Patricia, Elizabeth A. Watson, Patricia Grindell and husband, Bruce and Catherine Laffan and husband, James, in California, Julie Garrison and husband, Lloyd, Michael Maywhort and Kirk Maywhort and wife, Shana, in South Carolina, Mary Lu Saylor and husband, Dale, in Maryland, Warren F. Watson Jr., in Maine, Johanna R. Cairns and Aurora Lucy Lenz-Watson; nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Edith T. Norcross and husband, Linwood, of Oxford, Mass., and Evelyn T. Putnam of Hillsboro, N.H.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Warren S. Gustafson, William M. Watson Sr., Max E. Cannom and Richard H. Box; three sisters, Catherine Isabelle Tourtellotte, Mary T. Dimock and Ruth T. Webster; and granddaughter, Melonee Graham-Watson.
