CANTON – Melda O. “Polly” Robinson, 87, a resident of Sagadahoc Avenue in Rumford, died Sunday, Dec. 16, at The Victorian Villa Rehabilitation & Living Center.

She was born in Frye, on Aug. 12, 1920, one of 17 children of Merle and Myrtle (Bean) Philbrick, and had attended Mexico schools.

She was married in Dixfield, on July 14, 1941, to John L. Robinson Sr., who died April 22, 1979.

Survivors include a daughter, Terry Gurschick and husband, Keith, of Falmouth, Nova Scotia; sons, Richard Robinson and wife, Carleen, of Mexico and John Robinson Jr. of Rumford; five grandchildren, Kevin and Keith Gurschick Jr. and Melissa Hope, all of Falmouth, Nova Scotia, Jon Robinson of Cambridge, Vt., and Jaime Bushie of Dixfield; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Esley Thompson of Mexico, Peggy DeRouche and husband, Norman, of Rumford, Audrey Thompson of Rumford, Patty Austin and husband, Allen, of Rumford and Beverly Boyle and husband, Lee, of Mexico; brothers, Gary Philbrick of Rumford and Rodney Philbrick and wife, Stella, of Rumford.

She was predeceased by four brothers; and five sisters.
