PORTLAND – Vivid Motion, Inc., Portland ‘s innovative and kinda quirky dance company, will premiere The Night Before Burlesque, a brand new, brazen holiday dance show, at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 21-23 and 27-30, at the St. Lawrence Arts & Community Center, 76 Congress St.

Vivid Motion, Inc., the company that has delighted Portland audiences for four years with its ever popular and sold out Nutcracker Burlesque now brings an exciting new show to the stage this holiday season. Sure to become a classic as popular as the NB, The Night Before Burlesque takes its inspiration from traditional burlesque and vaudeville shows, with dancing, a little singing, comedy, and all live music: mirth and mayhem will abound.

Our troupe finds out that tonight is going to be their final performance, as a feisty female Donald Trump developer plans to turn the theatre into “condos – beautiful condos” as soon as possible. So, with the entire cast and crew abuzz, the drama that usually goes on behind the curtain is now front and center, all “unwrapped” in Vivid Motion style. Sure to tantalize the mind and enchant the senses, dances include an irreverent chair dance, a sultry tango, hot Istanbul nights, the Rudolph the Red Hot Reindeer tap review, and a revealing fan dance.

Vivid Motion alum Gerry Shannon takes the helm as director, and choreographers include Vivid Motion’s Artistic Director Brigitte Paulus, MJ Emerson, Cory Bucknam and Byron Nilsen. This year Vivid Motion welcomes the choreographic talents of Jennifer Van Duyne and southern Maine hip hop dancer and instructor Bruce Tracy.

Under the music direction of Joe Paulus, the NBB Ensemble plays more original music this year, as well as new versions of classic songs from musical theatre and popular music. With members from local bands audioblacK and Eldermur Krimm, the live music is just one of the many perks that Vivid Motion fans have grown to love.

Vivid Motion dancers live from Scarborough to New Gloucester, range from classically trained professionals to club dancers, and vary from students to career professionals, but all are eager to delight any audience.

Among the corps of local performers are: Cory Bucknam as the Diva; David Van Duyne as the Hunk; Amy Gieseke as the Understudy and Eric Worthley (all of Portland) as the Comedian. Meagan Luce (Windham) as the Mogul, with Matthew Meeds (Portland) as her Assistant. Vivid Motion welcomes Jonathan Doughty (New Gloucester) as the MC and Caroline Coffin as the Chanteuse.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. The show is not suitable for children. Tickets are available at www.vividmotion.org and at Books Etc., 38 Exchange St., Portland.
