FARMINGTON – Velda E. Worden, 89, of Wilton, died early Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the Orchard Park Rehabilitation Center with members of her family by her side. Prior to her short time at Orchard Park, she was a resident of Pinewood Terrace in Farmington.
She was born May 25, 1918, in Jay, a daughter of Dana and Lizzie (Spofford) Spiller. She attended Jay schools, graduating from Jay High School in 1936.
On Nov. 11, 1938, she married Homer Parlin Worden in Canton Point, where they made their home for a short time before moving to Wilton.
She retired from G.H. Bass in Wilton after many years of service. She loved spending time with her husband, family and friends including camping, taking bus trips, dancing, playing cards and bird hunting.
She is survived by her children, Jon Worden and his wife, Dianne, of Mexico, Michael Worden and his wife, Betty Lou, of Cape Elizabeth, Sue Gurney and her husband, Jim, of Lisbon Falls and Betsy Bransky and her husband, Mick, of Vienna; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her husband, Homer May 29, 1994; a brother; and two sisters.
