GRAY – Arleine Rand, wife of Richard “Dick” Rand of Gray, died suddenly Tuesday, Dec. 18, at her home. She was 71.

She was born May 9, 1936, to parents Rollin and Murriel Strong in Burlington, Vt. She lived in Mercer and Palmyra, until moving to New Gloucester as a teenager and graduated from New Gloucester High School in 1955.

She worked at Wasson’s Grove in Falmouth where she met her husband of 51 years. She also worked for many years at Gray Pharmacy and Cole Farms Restaurant. She and Dick retired in 1996 and spent a year traveling across country in their camper visiting many friends and family. She loved reading, playing cards with family, camping, traveling, enjoying her gardens, word search puzzles and decorating their home for Christmas.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Rand of Gray; a son, Michael Rand and his fiancé, Maggie Gray, of Victorville, Calif.; a daughter, Debbie Hall and her husband, Chuck Hall, of Windham; a daughter, Tammy Bruns Mullen and her husband, Peter Mullen, of Gray; a son, Steven Rand and his wife, Alison Rand, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Priscilla Morrison and her husband, John Morrison, of North New Portland; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and three more on the way.

She was predeceased by her two brothers, Wendall and Kendall “Pudge” Strong.
