JAY – Verso Paper is working to get two recovery boilers back up and running after excessive heat damaged some cables this week.
All four paper machines are making paper; only the machine that produces pulp is down temporarily, Verso spokesman Bill Cohen said Wednesday.
No one was injured and no one was sent home, he added.
A couple of days ago there was some excessive heat in recovery boiler No. 1 and it caused damage to a cable tray where controls and power cables are carried, Cohen said.
“We’ve been splicing and repairing those cables,” he said.
Recovery boiler No. 2 will back on-line Thursday morning, he said, and recovery boiler No. 1 should be back on-line Saturday.
“As a result of this, the mill is not making pulp but with the ground wood mill running and the pulp we had in inventory all the paper machines are running,” Cohen said.
