WILTON – Catherine D. Chapman, 85, of Wilton, passed into rest Wednesday, Dec. 19, after a brief illness.

She was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, on July 25, 1922, the youngest daughter of Arthur A. and Isobelle Ducie. She was educated in England and served for a time in the Civil Nursing Reserve during World War II. She emmigrated from Scotland with her husband Peter and two young children to settle in Buckfield.

She was a homemaker all her married life and dearly loved her family and always put them first. She loved spring and summer when flowers were in bloom and she could work in her own small flower garden. She loved to travel and was able to visit several states in the past years. Knitting was a hobby for her and she enjoyed making sweaters for all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She really liked to shop and would drop whatever she was doing when one of the family called to ask if she wanted to go. She also enjoyed very much being a communicant of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Wilton.

She is survived by two daughters, Diana Jillson and her husband, Charles, of Sabattus and Debbie Trask and her husband, Kevin, of Wilton; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Chapman of Plymouth, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Michael Jillson and his wife, Sue, of Wales, Lauri Shepherd of Litchfield, Melissa Fortin and her husband, Mike, of Monmouth, Jennifer Redlevske and her husband, Doug, of Wilton, Ashley Trask and her companion, Jason Smith, of Dixfield, Tyler Trask of Wilton, Susan Moss and her husband, Matt, of Natick, Mass., and Peter Chapman and his wife, Kate, of Marathon, Fla.; nine great-grandchildren, Josh and Nate Jillson, Taylor and Madison Shepherd, Adam, Matthew and Issac Fortin, Zach and Nate Moss.

She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Chapman in 1990; and her son, Peter A. Chapman in 1995.
