Cindy Decker from Black Mountain in Rumford accepts a handmade wreath from Mountain Valley Middle School students Jon Batty, Jake Blood and Ashley Conkrite. The eighth-grade class recently participated in a community service project, creating wreaths from bough to bow. The project was a way to thank the patrons who donated to the school’s Renaissance project, a scholastic and citizenship recognition program where students are rewarded for scholastic excellence as well as positive citizenship. The program relies on the generosity of the community to continue.
