PORTLAND – The Maine Cancer Foundation has named LuAnn Ballesteros, Kevin Healey, David Mitchell and Gordon Smith to its board of directors. Based in Portland, the Maine Cancer Foundation has been funding research since 1976.
Ballesteros currently serves as a senior development officer and director of advocacy at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor. She is a member of several boards in the Bangor area.
Healey is the vice president of human resources for the Sisters of Charity Health System in Lewiston. Healey is a current and past member of numerous nonprofit boards across Maine, including the Center for Educational Services in Auburn and the Employer Initiative Advisory Board in Augusta.
Mitchell is second vice president-wealth management at Smith Barney in Portland. He also serves on the board of trustees for the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Cancer Community Center in South Portland.
Smith has served as the executive vice president of the Maine Medical Association since 1993. He is chairman of the Executive Committee of the Advocacy Resource Center of the American Medical Association and vice chairman of the Board of the Maine Health Information Center.
The foundation board also elected new officers. Doug Carr, an attorney with the law firm of Perkins Thompson, was named president; Cheryl Greaney of at UNUM and Julie Jordan Marchese of Cumberland were named vice presidents. Roger Poulin of Baker Newman Noyes was elected treasurer.
