JAY – School Committee members have unanimously approved contract extensions for several administrators.

Though the board extended contracts for a couple of administrators to 2012 earlier this month, the contracts will only be valid until 2011 because legally the board cannot extend the pacts for more than three years, Chairwoman Mary Redmond-Luce said.

The board did not count this year when it approved the extensions.

Receiving contract extensions to 2012 were middle school Principal Scott Albert and Special Education Director Tina Collins.

Business Manager Stacie Everett and Maintenance/Transportation Director Sue Weston had contracts extended to 2011. Elementary school Principal Chris Hollingsworth, who is still on probation after being hired this school year, was extended to 2009 and so was curriculum and technology coordinator Joe Makley. High school

Principal John Robinson announced his retirement this month, effective at the end of the school year.

High school Assistant Principal Kenric Charles’ contract expires in 2008.

The School Committee will consider eliminating that position in budget talks for the 2008-09 academic year, Redmond-Luce said.

That option was also discussed in budget talks for this year but was dropped.
