AUBURN – Barbara L. McLaughlin, 69, of Montello Street, Lewiston died Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin with her family by her side after a long illness.

She was born in Norwood, Mass., on Sept. 24, 1938, the daughter of George W. and Ethelle M. (Hayes) Cobb and had been a resident of Lewiston since 1978.

She married her high school sweetheart, Henry McLaughlin of Readfield, on Jan. 7, 1958. They would have celebrated their 50th anniversary in January.

She was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Barb, Henry and family traveled for many years through Henry’s service career. She supported Henry’s second career when he started his tax business, after service retirement.

She was loved by her family and all who knew her. She will be missed dearly by all.

She is survived by one son, David McLaughlin and his fiancé, Terry Aube, of Gray; four daughters, Cheryl Marsh and her husband, Michael, of Monmouth, Kathleen McLaughlin of Littleton, Mass., Susan Graham and her husband, John, of Shrewsbury, Mass., and Patricia Strout and her husband, Thomas, of Gorham; one brother, Warren “Sandy” Cobb and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Walpole, Mass.; two sisters, Jean Hutchinson of Foxboro, Mass., and Patricia Reardon and her husband, James, of Walpole, Mass.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff from Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the wonderful care they have given to Barbara over the years.
