LEWISTON – A new program for children from different backgrounds to come together in play, friendship and discovery will begin Jan. 24 at the Lewiston Public Library.
The program, co-sponsored by Lots to Gardens, is for children ages 5 to 12 and is called Hot Tamales.
The program will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. every Thursday in the library’s first-floor conference room and will be built around monthly themes, such as:
• Team-building and healthy communication;
• Community service and community change;
• Sustainability and sustainable agriculture;
• Gardening and food systems;
• Leadership and respect.
These themes will be explored through interactive activities that are meant to challenge participants while providing a fun and relaxing environment.
You may register for this program in the Children’s Department at the library 30 minutes before each class, or by contacting Ari at Lots to Gardens, 755-3110.
If you have any questions about the program, contact the library at 513-3133.
Since 1999, Lots to Gardens has worked toward a sustainable food system by creating fair access to food and strengthening local leadership of youths and adults.
