The following homicides have been recorded by the Maine Department of Public Safety as of Dec. 6. There were a total of 21 homicides in 2007.

Jan. 12, Fairfield, Rhonda Wakefield Reynolds, 37, shot inside her home. Her estranged husband, 40-year-old Richard Reynolds, is charged with murder. Domestic.

Jan. 23, Sanford, Allen Bennison, 21, is stabbed to death outside a convenience store during an argument over cocaine. Joshua Stewart, 20, Jonathan Stewart, 24, and James Curit, 21, were indicted on murder charges in March. Drug related.

Feb. 23, Lewiston, Richard Lessard, 52, is stabbed to death in his apartment. Charged with murder is 18-year-old Sergio Hairston. Drug related.

March 3, Standish, Donald McKay, 60, stabbed to death inside his home. His 21-year-old son, Kristian McKay, is charged with murder. Domestic.

March 3, Bangor, Christina Simonin, 43, beaten to death and her body found outside near her Union Street apartment. Todd Gamache, 59, is indicted and arrested on a charge of murder April 4. Domestic.

April 24, Augusta, Jean-Paul Poulain, 62, shot in a robbery attempt at his apartment. Charged with murder are Mathiew Loisel, 21, and Corey Swift, 18, both of Augusta.

June 8, New Portland, Louise Brouchu, 50, killed at her home. Case remains open.

June 18, Limestone, 20-month-old Tearirra Leathers died of head trauma. Her baby sitter, Heather Fortin, 23, is charged with manslaughter.

June 22, Westbrook, Kevin Foley, 58, is killed at a cemetery. Case remains open.

July 8, Wells, Nicole Oliver, 24, shot and killed at her home. Police say husband Thomas Oliver, 30, killed her before turning his gun on himself. Domestic.

July 9, Wayne, Alexandra Mills, 19, killed at her home. A former classmate, John Okie, 20, is charged with murder on July 17.

July 9, Amherst, Tad Howard, 27, is shot to death in a remote area of Amherst. In August, John Turner, 34, of Bangor, is indicted on a charge of murder. Drug related.

July 16, Newcastle, John Okie, 59, is stabbed to death inside his home. His 20-year-old son, John Okie, is charged with his murder. Domestic. Okie is also charged with the homicide on July 9 of Alexandra Mills.

Sept. 2, Winterport, Benjamin Preston, 26, is struck and killed by a pickup in the driveway of his home. The driver, Nikki Thibodeau, 32, of Corinth, was arrested on a charge of manslaughter, which was later dropped when no indictment was returned by the grand jury.

Oct. 23, Lewiston, Donna Paradis, 38, killed and her body buried behind the Promenade Mall in Lewiston. Richard Dwyer, 44, was arrested Nov. 20 and ultimately charged with murder, robbery and rape.

Oct. 25, Portland, Jennifer Soto, 25, is killed inside her Portland home, and her body is found in the Cathance River in Bowdoinham on Oct. 27. Her boyfriend, Joel Olavarria, is charged with murder. Domestic.

Oct. 27, Saco, Andy Luong, 22, gets into a gun battle outside a Saco nightspot. Luong later dies following a police chase. Drug related.

Nov. 8, Prentiss, Mario Litterio, 70, shot to death near his home in Prentiss. His friend, Joseph Dumas, 48, is charged with murder and says he was high on cocaine when Litterio was killed. Drug related.

Nov. 29, LaGrange, Kristin Smart, 25, shot to death at her home. Her husband, Jeremy Hart, 34, is charged with murder. Domestic.
