Dear Sun Spots: In the past there were ladies from a church sewing T-shirts into diapers to send to South America, in the Minot or Mechanic Falls area, I think. If they are they are involved in that project again this year, I have T-shirts to give them. If so, can you find out how to reach them? – J. L. No Town.
Answer: According to a 2006 article, the Oxford Advent Church on Route 26 was once involved with this program. Members of the congregation meet weekly and using new or used, large and extra-large T-shirts, they helped snip and sew them into washable diapers for mothers in Honduras. The end product was then bundled up and shipped. You might consider contacting Mary Kay Marston of West Paris 674-2061 to see if she might be able to assist you.
Dear Sun Spots: It seems there is a need out there for traction aids. I have a pair to sell, at a reasonable price. Please e-mail me at [email protected]. – No Name, No Town.
Dear Sun Spots: My name is Nelson Moyet and I am from Joseph Jenks Jr., High School in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. We are studying the United States and its states in our geography class. I have chosen the state of Maine. Part of our project includes gathering first hand information for our poster board/report. I would greatly appreciate if you could please print my letter in your newspaper so that your column readers might send me some information on the state of Maine. This would help our class out greatly.
I am looking forward to hearing from you. Any information should please be sent to me, Nelson Moyet, Joseph Jenks Jr. High School, 350 Division Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860. Thank you readers for any assistance here. – Nelson Moyet, Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
Answer: In addition to responses from readers, you might also consider contacting the secretary of state for free state license plates. If you, like her, are presenting your work to parents and classmates, Sun Spots wishes you lots of luck!
