Children’s entertainer Rick Charette, above, and the Bubblegum Band will perform at the L.L. Bean’s flagship store in Freeport beginning at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, as part of a “Kidnight” countdown. Other activities during Bean’s New Year’s Eve celebration geared to the entire family include performances by physcial comedian Michael Trautman, magicians Peter Gross and Peter Boie, jazz vocalist Leila Percy and ventriloquist/puppeteer/singer Lesley Smith and “Sammy Snail.” There will also be an indoor archery range, fly tying demonstration, kayak races, fireworks and opportunities to meet Jeff Clapp, the world’s only creator of environmental art sculptures made from oxygen cylinders abandoned by climbers of Mount Everest. All events, offered from 9:30 a.m. to midnight, are free. No tickets required. For a schedule of events, log on to www.llbean.com/stores.
