TURNER – Parishioners at the Calvary Christian Church on Route 4 arrived for services Sunday to discover the work of vandals, who showed nothing by way of Christmas spirit.

Pastor Shaun Weeks said a weekend vandalism spree left a fleet of buses damaged, with windows smashed out and headlights broken.

A half dozen buses used for the Sunday school ministry were targeted, Weeks said. Church officials are mystified and Maine State Police are searching for clues to the identities of the culprits.

According to Weeks, it appeared the vandals smashed their way into the buses, removed fire extinguishers and then used them to further pummel the fleet.

Repairs to the buses are planned, but it was not known how long the vehicles will be out of commission.

No arrests had been made by Wednesday night, police said.
