LEWISTON – A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Laurier Bazinet was held Thursday morning at St. Patrick’s Chapel with the Rev. Michael Seavey celebrating the Mass.

Before Mass the Bazinet family received personal greetings of condolence from relatives and friends before they were ushered to their pews.

Larry’s grandson, Gregory Bazinet, carried his grandfather’s urn to the front of the altar after the Rev. Seavey’s greeting and blessing in church.

Readers were grandchildren, Kathleen Caron, Rebecca Bazinet and Steve Caron. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by grandchildren, Jason Cloutier and Sherry Cloutier.

Words of remembrance were shared by Larry’s son, John Bazinet, at the conclusion of Mass.

A delegation of employees from Vac Shak were also in attendence.

Following a procession to St. Peter’s Cemetery, the Rev. Seavey recited committal prayers, and at their conclusion the song, “Danny Boy,” was played in Larry’s honor. Then the United States Army honor detail played “Taps,” and presented our country’s flag to Larry’s son, John Bazinet.

After military honors, John Bazinet then recognized his nephew, Steve Caron, as an Iraqi war veteran and then personally presented his father’s flag to him in recognition of his services to his country just as Steve’s grandfather had, who served more than 60 years ago during World War II.
