WATERFORD – A 47-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night after being accused of entering his ex-girlfriend’s trailer, threatening her with a gun and assaulting her.
Richard P. Sankolewicz of 1135 Waterford Road, Waterford, was charged with Class A burglary, Class C criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, and Class D domestic assault.
Sankolewicz’s bail, originally set at $25,000, was reduced Thursday. He made bail Friday.
According to an affidavit by Deputy Michael Halacy of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, Sankolewicz and the woman had recently broken up, and she was in the process of moving into the trailer.
The woman accused Sankolewicz of entering the trailer three times, twice by forcing open windows. According to the affidavit, the woman let Sankolewicz in when he returned a third time, and he took a Smith and Wesson 9 mm semiautomatic handgun from his waistband or pocket and pointed it at her.
Sankolewicz is also accused of ripping a necklace off the woman’s neck, pushing her into a chair, throwing a flashlight that hit her head, and threatening to burn the trailer down.
According to the affidavit, Sankolewicz said he showed the gun to the woman and threatened to shoot a pickup one of her friends was driving if the friend arrived. Sankolewicz led Halacy to the gun, which was unloaded. The gun and a case containing two magazines with approximately 10 rounds each were seized.
According to a booking sheet at the Oxford County Jail, Sankolewicz is a safety supervisor with Asplundh Tree Expert Co., which is based Willow Grove, Pa.
Sankolewicz made his initial appearance before Judge Valerie Stanfill in South Paris District Court on Thursday, where his bail was reduced to $1,000 cash or $10,000 surety.
