Lewiston – William E. Pike, 79, of Oxford, died on Thursday, Dec. 27, at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston.

He was born in Brockton, Mass., on Sept. 26, 1928, the son of Angie Wenchell. He was educated in Wareham, Mass. schools, graduating from Wareham High School, in 1945.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of eight years. He worked for the Fore River Railroad at the Quincy, Mass. shipyard and retired in 1987. During his retirement, he was employed at the True Value Hardware Store of Oxford and L.M. Longley and Son of Norway. He lived in the Oxford area for the past 20 years, since 1987. He was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club.

He is survived by his companion of 32 years, Genevieve (Jenny) Crandell of Oxford; one halfbrother, Earl and wife, Berle Pike, of Charleston, S.C.

He was predeceased by his mother, Angie.
