TURNER – Announcement is made of the engagement of Jaime Duval and Rob Beranek.
The future bride is the daughter of Cheryl Duval of Turner and the late Conrad Duval. She grew up in the woods of Turner. She is a 1996 graduate of Leavitt Area High School and has pursued two higher degrees, a bachelor’s degree in human ecology from College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, and a master’s degree in environmental studies from Antioch University New England in Keene, N.H.
The future bridegroom is the son of Steve and Sue Beranek of Michigan. He grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He is a 1998 graduate of Gladstone High School in Gladstone, Mich. He received a bachelor’s degree in physics from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Mich., and a master’s degree in environmental studies from Antioch as well.
Miss Duval is passionate about local, healthy food. She is pursuing this passion at Ferry Beach Ecology School in Saco, coordinating a children’s garden and getting distracted by administrative work. Mr. Beranek believes global climate change is an immediate crisis and is working with schools to increase their energy efficiency. His organization, the Center for Environmental Education, raises funds for schools nationwide.
The couple is looking forward to a lifetime of growing their own food, brewing their own beer and living lightly on the earth together.
