‘Giving Tree’ results in gifts for children

AUBURN – Staff, faculty and students of Central Maine Community College donated gifts for local families through the “Giving Tree” that was placed in the lobby at the college.

The project was sponsored by the Student Senate in coordination with the Salvation Army of Lewiston.

The Salvation Army received the gifts as part of its annual Santa Claus project.

The gifts were distributed to families in time for Christmas.

The Giving Tree was adorned with tags, each with information about a child and the type of gift that child wanted.

Student Senators Kaitlyn Hamilton and Megan Kindlimann gathered up the gifts and Hamilton delivered them to the Salvation Army.

Salvation Army Major Kathleen Lyle said that this year the Salvation Army would distribute gifts to approximately 350 families, all of whom were registered for the Santa Claus project.
