FARMINGTON – United Way of the Tri-Valley Area Campaign Co-Chairs Tom and Veronica Sawyer continue to seek financial support from the residents of Franklin County who reside from Coburn Gore to Jay, along with the northern Androscoggin County towns of Livermore and Livermore Falls.
The 2007-2008 campaign goal is $395,000. The United Way continues to work with the remaining employee/employer campaigns for 2007/2008. To date, the campaign has raised $341,989; $53,011 short of the campaign goal.
A number of groups have surpassed last year’s campaign contributions. There is still time to make a donation; send a check or money order payable to the United Way and mail to PO Box 126, Farmington, 04938 or stop by the United Way office at 232 Broadway. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
United Way of the Tri-Valley Area funds 19 agencies. Four additional agencies receive designations funding only. The agency awarded a small venture grant to Franklin Adult Education SAD 9 and have a second small venture grant in reserve for the Homeless Coalition once it has secured matching funding.
The Sawyers, along with Janis Walker, Gordie Flint, Pam McAllister, Tom Taylor, Bob Yorks, Michele Coates, Debby Norton, Beth Gulliver and Tom Saviello have been instrumental in raising the $341,989.
The agency helped raise additional funding for home heating fuel to be managed by Western Maine Community Action.
