JAY – Police are investigating the shooting of a house on New Year’s Eve, Chief Larry White Sr. said Wednesday.
A bullet was shot through a bathroom window of the home at 73 Plaisted Road, just missing one of two people in the room before it struck the bathroom door, he said.
The two adults at the house were not injured.
The shooting was reported by the residents at 11:18 p.m.
Sgt. Troy Young and officer Stephen Wilkinson responded but found no suspects in the area, White said.
However, it was apparent that someone had fired a shot that struck the window and the bathroom door of the home, he said.
Jay police Detective Drew Hufnagel is continuing with the ongoing investigation and following some leads.
“We don’t know if it was a random shooting or not,” White said.
Evidence collected at the scene will be turned over to the Maine State Police Crime Lab for processing.
Anyone with information in this matter is asked to call the Jay Police Department at 897-6766.
