LEWISTON – Nick Grant from Texas, formerly of Sabattus, has received the first Ryan J. Guay Memorial Scholarship
Ryan Guay was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2006 while attending Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Orlando, Fla. Grant attended Oak Hill High School in Wales and the motorcycle institute in Orlando with Guay. He was chosen as the first recipient based on his career goals in motorcycle mechanics, which was Guay’s passion.
The second annual Ryan J. Guay Memorial Scholarship fundraiser will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at the Maple Room, 22 Park St.
Classical Guitarist Gregory Guay of Charleston, S.C., will perform works by Bach, Villa-Lobos and Tarrega. Guay has scheduled a special guest appearance by soprano Katherine Jillson of Sabattus and Boston, Mass. Jillson is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
