LEWISTON – The Maple Room will be the site of the second annual Ryan J. Guay memorial scholarship fundraiser tonight beginning at 7:30. Gregory Guay, classical guitarist from Charleston, S.C., will perform works by Bach, Villa-Lobos and Tarrega. Special guest will be soprano Katherine Jillson, a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
Tickets, $25, are available by calling The Maple Room at 1-866-901-1036 and will be sold at the door. A portion of the ticket sales will go toward the fundraiser.
Alumni of Oak Hill High School, where Ryan Guay graduated in 2002, can get discounted tickets. Guay was attending the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Orlando, Fla., when he was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2006. His passion in life was motorcycle mechanics; he was on the directors list with a GPA of 4.0 at the time of his death. The first scholarship was recently awarded to a fellow graduate of OHHS and MMI, Nick Grant of Sabattus and Texas.
The Maple Room is at 22 Park St.
