RUMFORD – Romeo Arthur Glazier, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 3, surrounded by family after a long illness.

He was born May 7, 1924, in Rumford and attended Stephens High School. He received his accounting degree from Becker College in Worcester, Mass.

He was a veteran of World War II, taking part in the Normandy Invasion. He was a well-known insurance man and tax preparer and worked for many years at Thibault Funeral Home.

He was a communicant of Saint Athanasius and Saint John’s Church and was a member of several veterans’ organizations, the Sons of Italy, and the Knights of Columbus.

He was an avid beano player and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Stella (Giambattista); three children, Charles and his wife, Anne, Carmen Perry and her husband, Peter and Anthony and his wife, Denise, all of Rumford; as well as seven grandchildren, Dawn Perry Emerman and her husband, Michael, of Somerville, Mass., Katie Perry of South Portland, Matthew Glazier and his wife, Courtney, of Salem, Mass., April Glazier of South Boston, Mass., and Nicholas Perry, Christopher Mejias and Carmella Glazier, all of Rumford.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Louisiana (Roy) Glazier; two brothers, Oliver and Ivan; one sister, Laurette; and one granddaughter, Danielle Perry.
