FARMINGTON – Two women were taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital after a late-afternoon accident Friday at Broadway and High Street.
Josephine Eaton, 81, of Wilton was driving a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser at 4:05 p.m. east on Broadway and attempted to make a left turn onto High Street. Neither she nor her passenger, Johnnie Buchanan, 72, saw a vehicle driven by Nicole Edmonds, 29, of Farmington, that was proceeding west into town from Perham Street to Broadway.
Edmonds, formerly of Norway, was driving a 2004 Subaru to her job at the Granary Brew Pub and Restaurant. She tried to stop but couldn’t and had no place else to go, said investigating officer Sgt. Peter Barton of the Farmington Police Department.
Both Eaton and Buchanan received minor injuries, Barton said, and were taken to FMH by NorthSstar Ambulance.
Early Friday evening, a hospital representative said both women were patients at the hospital.
Edmonds’ vehicle was towed by Collins Wrecker Service and received approximately $3,000 in damage to the front end, Barton said. Eaton’s vehicle was driven by her son from the scene to his home on High Street. Barton estimated damage to the passenger side of the vehicle to be approximately $5,000.
Farmington Fire Department responded to the scene to help with traffic control and clear debris from the road.
