AUGUSTA – Frances D. Reny, 83, of Maple Street, Lewiston, died Thursday, Jan. 3, at Maine General Hospital after a short illness.

She was born in St. Zachrie, P.Q., Canada, on June 14, 1924, the daughter of the late Edward and Marguerite (Champion) Deraps. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1943.

She married the love of her life, Laurier H. Reny, on June 7, 1947. He predeceased her in 2003. She worked for many years at the Lewiston Public Library. She was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling, dining, doing puzzles, reading and the company of her two cats.

She leaves two daughters, Susan Gardner and her husband, David, of Gardiner and Karen Reny of Lewiston; a son, Eugene (Gene) Reny and his wife, Elizabeth, of Lisbon; five grandchildren, Stephanie Hamlin of Bowdoin, Allyson Pierce of Bowdoin, Christopher Reny of Lisbon, Melissa Reny of Portland and Patrick Reny of Lisbon; and four great-grandchildren, Cody and Felicia Pierce, Darrah and Cole Hamlin.
