AUBURN – No serious injuries were reported when a SAD 52 school bus was struck by another vehicle near the Auburn Plaza Friday morning.
The bus, driven by Peru resident Janice E. Miele, 60, was carrying 40 students and two adults when it collided with a 2001 Buick driven by Jessica S. Sawyer, 27, of 800 Summer St.
According to police reports, Sawyer was exiting the Auburn Plaza on Joline Street about 11:30 a.m. heading north when she attempted to stop at a stop sign and skidded on ice, sliding into the bus which was traveling east on Joline Drive. Two of the students reported minor back pain from the collision. All of the students on the bus were 15 or 16 years old. Damage to the school bus was minor, estimated at $500. Sawyer’s Buick susdamage estimated at $2,500.
