MINOT – Clifton L. Davis, 92, a resident of 392 Minot Ave., Minot, died at his home early Sunday morning with his family by his side after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Waldoboro, on Sept. 23, 1915, the son of Herbert W. and Kate (Flanders) Davis. He attended both Waldoboro and Auburn schools and was a graduate of Edward Little High School.

He married the former Alice D. Laliberte on March 20, 1937, and together they raised four children.

He was a naval veteran of World War II, having served with the Seabees in the Pacific theater. Following the war, he was employed over 45 years for the former Palmer Construction Co. of Auburn, retiring many years ago.

He was a very family-oriented person who was dedicated to his family.

Survivors include one son, Donald Davis and his wife, Rita A Davis, of Edgewater, Md.; two daughters, Carol Layton of Auburn and Virginia Parent and her husband, Donald, of Greene. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Alice Davis; one son, Richard Davis; and one brother, Leonard Davis.
