Portland – Erland F. Cook, 76, of Cumberland Avenue, Portland, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 5, in Portland.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1931, in Avon, the sixth child born to Harold J. Cook and Lucille Steward Cook Leeman. He attended several schools in the Franklin county area.
He enjoyed country music, singing and he also loved to yodel. His favorites were Gene Autry and yodeling Slim Clark. The light of his life was being a member of the First Baptist Church in Portland. He enjoyed the fellowship of Ken Jones and his wife, Linda, and all members of the congregation. He had many good friends in the Portland area where he had lived for many years. Many knew him from seeing him everyday while on his daily route, collecting bottles and cans.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Lydia Cook of Leeds; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Mildred Burnham and Helen McPherson; and three brothers, Maurice, Kenneth and Ernest Cook.
