MADISON – Margo Russell poured in 16 points, including a 3-pointer, as Madison easily took care of Mt. Abram 60-29 Monday night in Mountain Valley Conference girls’ basketball play.
The Bulldogs (8-0) continued their unbeaten ways with Briann Emery adding 15 points from all over the floor and hauling down six rebounds against the Roadrunners (4-3).
Lacey Ashbrook netted 10 for the Bulldogs and flirted with a triple-double by dishing seven assists and grabbing six boards.
Janessa Thomas was the Roadrunners’ high-scorer with 11 points.
Monmouth 53, Carrabec 31
MONMOUTH – Junior forward Alyssa Morin recorded 16 points to pace unbeaten Monmouth to a 53-31 victory over Carrabec in MVC girls’ basketball.
The Mustangs received fine offensive support from senior guard Jenn Lola, who had 14 points and seven steals. Mackenzie Weese and Alicha Stoddard garnered six points apiece for the Cobras (1-6).
Georges Valley 45, Lisbon 41
THOMASTON – Senior guard Nicole Poland tossed 19 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead Georges Valley to a 45-41 triumph over Lisbon in MVC girls’ basketball.
Poland hit a 3-pointer with 40 seconds remaining in regulation to put the Buccaneers (5-3) up by two, before senior Kayla Wood hit a pair of free throws with less than a second remaining. Senior guard Emily Moore paced the Greyhounds (5-4) with 10 points.
Hockey
Oak Hill/Lisbon 5, Skowhegan 3
AUBURN – Tyler Pomerleau completed a hat trick with an empty-net goal and assisted on another goal Monday as Oak Hill/Lisbon picked up its first Class A hockey win of the season, beating Skowhegan, 5-3, at Ingersoll Arena.
Dan Fontaine assisted on two of Pomerleau’s tallies as the back-and-forth action took the teams down to the wire.
Nate Powers and Nate Dionne rallied the Indians (3-4) in the third period with a goal and assist each, but goalie Cam Blouin of Oak Hill/Lisbon (1-6) toughened down the stretch.
