Dear Sun Spots: Could I please have a name and phone number for the person in charge of antique items for a Lewiston Mill, asking for shoe factory items to be donated.

Thank you. I love your column. It’s the first thing I read while having my coffee in the morning. – A. M, Sabattus.

Answer:
Contact Museum L-A Executive Director Rachel Desgrosseilliers via e-mail at [email protected], through the museum at 333-3881.

Incorporated in 1996, Museum L-A is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history of the Industrial Revolution and its workers in Lewiston-Auburn. Located at 35 Canal St., Lewiston, it is open Monday through Saturday.

Three years ago the museum held the first of two millworker reunions. From these gatherings, 45 were selected to participate in the project conducted by the museum partnership with Bates College. Grants were obtained from the USDA Rural Development Program, Bates College Harward Center for Community Partnerships, The Maine Arts Commission, Maine Community Foundation, and the New Century Program.

Dear Sun Spots: How can I obtain a 2008 quilting calendar, Angels Among Us, put out by Benartex?

I thought they could be ordered through a place in Stillwater, Maine, but have had no luck in getting an address or information on them. Please help! – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
In checking with Benartex, Sun Spots has learned that the calendar you are seeking is not from the Angels Among Us series but from the Love Is collection. You can contact Benartex through its Web site at www.benartex.com or at Benartex, 359 Broadway, Suite 1100, New York, NY 10018, 212-840-3250, e-mail [email protected]. You can also locate a store by clicking on “About Benartex” and including your local information to find a store near you.

Dear Sun Spots: I am in need of two large coffee cans, clean. I also need the phone number of the lady who needed the puzzle.

And, lastly, did Gene Autry have a child? – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
The person seeking the puzzle can be reached at 782-9550. You may want to keep calling until you reach her as there does not appear to be an answering machine.

And regarding your final question, according to www.geneautry.com, Gene was married to Ina Mae Autry for 48 years until she passed away. They had no children. Gene married his second wife, Jacqueline Autry, in 1981, and they were married 19 years until Gene’s death on October 2, 1998.

Gene Autry did not have any children. Alan Autry – former pro-football player, actor, and current mayor of Fresno, Calif. – is not directly related to Gene. He is, however, a part of one of the branches of the Autry family tree going back several generations. Gene and Alan met several times and enjoyed each other’s company. Gene Autry died at his home in Studio City, Calif., on Oct. 2, 1998, due to complications from cancer. He was 91 years old. He is buried at Forest Lawn – Hollywood Hills.
