LEWISTON – Priscilla R. Pelletier, 88, of Lewiston, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Jan. 6, at Montello Manor in Lewiston.

Born in Lewiston, on Dec. 8, 1919, she was the daughter of Wilfrid and Veronica Deshaines Rivard. Educated locally, she left school at a young age in order to work.

Going back late in life, she earned her GED in her 60s. On April 7, 1947, she married Gerard J. Pelletier, who passed away on Nov. 10, 1998.

Together, they owned and operated Pelletier’s Self Service Market, a grocery store on Sabattus Street in Lewiston, for 25 years.

Following her retirement, she was employed part-time at Baribault Jewelers, then Paul Rodrigue Jewelers for several years.

She was a very independent, thoughtful and loving person and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also loved to bake and was famous for her fudge. A member of Holy Family Parish, she was also a member of the Ladies of St. Ann, the Woman’s Literary Union, Covenant 50 and Horizon 55.

Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne and husband, Robert Mann, of Bloomington, Ind. and Patricia and husband, Roger Labrecque, of Lewiston; four sisters, Jane and husband, Marcel Landry, Carmen and husband, Laurent Martin and Pauline and husband, Luc Pomerleau, all of Lewiston, and Lorraine and husband, Richard Drouin, of Hogansville, Ga; two brothers, Norman Rivard and wife, Yvette, of Poland, and Robert Rivard and wife, Margaret, of Mechanic Falls; two grandchildren, Derek Labrecque and wife, Stephanie, of Foresthill, Calif., and Jessica Labrecque and Robert Westbye, of Auburn; two great-granddaughters, Madelynn and Abigail Labrecque, of Foresthill, Calif.

Besides her husband and parents; she was predeceased by a sister, Marcella Braun, who passed away in July of 2000.
