South Paris – William H. Perkins, 84, of Hill Street, South Paris, died on Monday, Jan. 7, at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

He was born on Sept. 21, 1923, to Ralph and Agnes (Hutchins) Perkins. He was a graduate of Norway High School. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army. He married the former Bertha Hudson, on Jan. 29, 1944. He had worked for many years as a truck driver, and had received numerous safety awards as a truck driver. After his retirement he enjoyed working with his daughter, Mary, in the landscaping business in the Oxford Hills area.

He was a member of the First Universalist Church in South Paris, Men’s Club at church, Odd Fellows and enjoyed participating in the local minstrel shows.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha, of South Paris; three daughters, Carol Savageau and husband, Daryl, of South Paris, Priscilla Crockett and husband, John, of Andover, N.H. and Mary Perkins and husband, Patrick, of Lovell; grandchildren, William and wife, Michelle Penley, Brian and wife, Veronica Penley, David and wife, Kathleen Crockett and Melissa and husband, Doug Hanson; and nine great-grandchildren.
