Teen support
WATERVILLE – The Brain Injury Association of Maine is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create a better future for the people of Maine, through brain injury awareness, prevention, education and advocacy.
The association will offer a telephone support group to teenagers and young adults affected by a family member’s or friend’s brain injury at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21. There is no fee and the call is free.
The facilitator for the conference call will be Elizabeth Grada, a counselor who knows first hand the issues that arise after brain injury.

Society speakers
AUGUSTA – The annual meeting of the Kennebec Historical Society, to be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Calumet Club, 334 West River Road, will feature a program by authors Nelson Madore and Denis Ledoux on “The Franco-American Experience in Maine.”
Madore and Ledoux contributed to the recently published “Voyages: A Maine Franco-American Reader.” Books will be available for sale. Call 622-7718 for more information.
Teach-in set
BIDDEFORD – The University of New England will host “Focus the Nation,” a national teach-in engaging millions of students and citizens with political leaders and decision-makers about global warming solutions, starting Jan. 24 on the university’s campus in Biddeford.
Sponsored by UNE’s Department of Environmental Studies, Office of the Provost, Environmental Council and Earth’s ECO, “Focus the Nation” is an educational initiative involving more than a thousand colleges, universities, high schools, middle schools, faith groups, civic organizations and businesses.
