FARMINGTON – Yvette M. LaPointe, 92, a resident of Otis Street in Livermore Falls, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Sandy River Nursing Home after a brief stay.
She was born on April 19, 1915, in Jay, the daughter of Alphonse and Agnes (Nadeau) Desjardins. She attended St. Rose of Lima grammar school and was a 1933 graduate of Livermore Falls High School.
On Aug. 30, 1937, she married William “Willie” LaPointe at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. He passed away in 1949. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church and a life member of the Daughters of Isabella.
For more than 40 years, she was a receptionist and bookkeeper for the Livermore Falls Water District, retiring in 1994. She loved the Ogunquit coast, where she spent many happy hours sitting on her deck watching the surf. Other enjoyments were watching musicals at the Brunswick Music Theater and listening to talented family members who played and sang at family get-togethers. She also loved playing checkers with Willie, her loving grandson. In recent years, she enjoyed eating out at local restaurants.
She is survived by two daughters, Elaine LaPointe of Livermore Falls and Doris Brillant and her husband, Paul, of Brunswick; a sister, Jeannine Simoneau and her husband, Paul, of Livermore Falls; a grandson, William “Willie” Brillant of Portland; and a sister-in-law, Muriel Desjardins of Biddeford.
She was predeceased by her parents; her stepmother, Nellie Desjardins; a brother, Bill Desjardins; and three sisters, Antonia Desjardins, Rita Simoneau and Corinne Desjardins.
