Bucking the trend
The unbeaten Buckfield girls had scored 347 points in its seven games and allowed just 147. That was an average margin of victory of 63.8 to 21. NYA bucked that trend Wednesday and were tied with the Bucks at halftime. Buckfield (8-0) pulled away for a 50-39 win. Now the Bucks margin of victory is down to just 49.6 to 23.
Tiger Beat
Chris Bessey had plenty of talent and experience on his bench Monday evening against Telstar. Unfortunately for the Jay Tigers, many of them were unavailable to play. Kaylie DeMillo and Jessica Labrecque, former veteran varsity players now in college, were onhand to help as assistant coaches. Senior Heather Chaney was out with an illness while senior Liz LeBlanc is out for the year with a back injury. The Rebels managed an overtime win against Telstar despite having just eight players able to play.
“Obviously, losing Liz, our gamplan had to change a little bit,” said Bessey. ” We might have been perimeter-oriented before. Now we’re trying to get the ball inside to Morgan (Turner), Beth (Moore) and Hillary (Deane.”
