LEWISTON – The CMGH-CMMC School of Nursing Alumni Association will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the College of Nursing, 70 Middle St. It will be a “Brown Bag” luncheon meeting with cold drinks provided.

The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a guest speaker, followed by a business meeting with election of officers.

The speaker will be Marcia Humason Akers, RN, a member of the association. Her topic will be “Living Well with Multiple Sclerosis.”

Akers graduated from the school in 1969 and practiced professional nursing for 35 years at CMMC until her early retirement in 2004.

Akers is a volunteer for the Maine Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She is a member of the MS Speakers Bureau, an MS peer support representative, a member of the 2008 MS Walk Committee, and last year was honored as the recipient of the 2007 Alida Camp Memorial Award through the Maine Chapter of the MS Society.
